On February 26, 2025, Professor Jack Woo led several students to participate in the Open Day event organized by CFA Shenzhen Association and HSBC. The teacher and students visited the HSBC Shenzhen Flagship Branch together, kicking off a fulfilling and rewarding learning journey.

At the beginning, Ms. Ding Shuang, the founding chairperson of the CFA Association and a senior executive of HSBC, brought a wonderful sharing session to the students with her rich industry experience and profound professional knowledge. As senior employee at HSBC for over 20 years, Ms. Ding Shuang first introduced the business overview of HSBC to students in detail. She emphasized that one of the biggest characteristics of HSBC is its international nature, which is not only reflected in the diversified work content but also demonstrated in the international team composed of people from different cultural backgrounds and with diverse thinking. In addition, HSBC also provides its employees with many valuable opportunities to work overseas, enabling them to showcase their talents and improve themselves in the international arena. Subsequently, when talking about the corporate culture of HSBC, Ms. Ding Shuang was filled with pride. She stated that HSBC has a sound and humanized internal control system. Here, the working atmosphere is warm and harmonious, full of human touch. This people-oriented management approach has greatly enhanced harmony among employees. Every employee are respected and experience the warmth and care just like at home.

During the sharing session on Management Trainee Program, in response to the question "What is the difference between the Management Trainee Program and other positions?", Ms. Ding Shuang explained, "The significance of the Management Trainee Program does not lie in enabling everyone to be promoted quickly in the short term, but in helping everyone to move more steadily and further in their career paths." She further elaborated that during the cultivation process of management trainees, the problem-solving ability, dialectical thinking ability, and innovative ability that are emphasized in the program are all crucial core skills in one's career. Moreover, the alumni in the Management Trainee Program will become an asset of one's personal social circle in the future. She also mentioned that HSBC has a wide range of businesses. During the job rotation period, students have many opportunities to deeply understand the functions and business scopes of various different departments, thus gradually clarifying their own career interests and directions. Even after being assigned to a permanent position, if there are new ideas and pursuits, job transfer is open to apply. HSBC provides employees with a rich variety of choices and broad development space.

After the interview, under guidance of HSBC staff, students visited the HSBC Shenzhen Flagship Branch located in China Resources Tower in an orderly manner. Everyone was very interested in learning about the functional configurations of different areas in the bank and felt the advanced operation mode and professional service atmosphere of HSBC in close touch.

Through this visit, students not only gained an understanding of HSBC's campus recruitment program but also had a comprehensive understanding of the process and role of the Management Trainee Program, laying a foundation for their future internships and career plan. Business School will continue to make efforts to expand cooperation platforms, assist in the growth and development of students, and at the same time strengthen the connection with enterprises, building a bridge between students and society.
